Help
How to use DocuMela, and how to reach us.
Open a file
- Tap "Open file" on the home screen, or tap one of the four cards to see only that kind of file.
- Choose the file. It opens and is added to "Recent files".
You can also open a file from your file manager, email or chat app: tap the file there and choose DocuMela from "Open with".
Edit and save
- Word: tap a paragraph, change the text, tap "Apply".
- Excel: tap a cell, type in the bar at the top, tap the check button.
- PowerPoint: tap any text on a slide. The slide menu adds or deletes slides.
- PDF: tap the pencil, choose Text, Note, Highlight or Replace, then touch the page.
A star before the file name means there are changes that are not saved. Tap the save icon to keep them.
Where is my edited file?
DocuMela works on its own copy, so the file you opened is not changed. To get the edited file out of the app:
- "Save a copy" in the menu of an open file puts it in a folder you choose.
- "Share" on a recent file sends it to another app.
Convert a file
- Tap "Convert files" on the home screen.
- Choose the conversion, then choose the file.
- The new file opens and appears in "Recent files".
Common questions
A file will not open. Check that it is a .pdf, .docx, .xlsx, .csv or .pptx file. Older .doc, .xls and .ppt files are not supported.
My Word document looks different. The app shows a reading view. The fonts and page design are still in the file and appear again in Word.
A PDF gives no text when converted to Word. It is probably made of scanned pictures, which contain no text to copy.
How do I remove files from the app? Use "Remove from list" on a recent file, or "Clear recent files" in Settings.
