Privacy policy

Summary

DocuMela is a document reader and editor for Android. Your documents are opened, edited and converted on your phone. They are not uploaded to us, and we do not have an account system or a server that receives your files.

The app shows advertising from Google AdMob. Google collects some device information to show and measure ads, as described below.

Who we are

DocuMela ("the app") is published by Dejene, an independent developer ("we", "us"). You can contact us at dejenekasa302@gmail.com.

Your documents

• Files you open (PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV and photos you choose for conversion) are processed only on your device.
• When you open a file, the app keeps its own copy in its private storage so that you can reopen and edit it. Your original file is not changed.
• We do not upload, read, sell or share the content of your documents. We cannot see them.
• The app does not ask for permission to access all files on your device. You choose each file yourself with the system file picker, or by sending a file to DocuMela from another app.
• You can delete the app's copies at any time with "Clear recent files" in Settings, or by uninstalling the app.

Information we collect

We do not collect personal information ourselves. The app has no sign-in, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts or location.

Settings such as your theme choice, the list of recent files and the last page you read are stored only on your device.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app uses Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC, to show banner and full-screen ads. To deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect and process:

• the advertising ID of your device;
• your IP address, from which an approximate location can be estimated;
• device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, language and app version;
• information about how you interact with ads, and diagnostic data.

This information is collected by Google, not by us, and is handled under Google's own policies:

Ads are never shown on top of an open document, and the content of your documents is not used for advertising.

Your choices about ads

• In regions where the law requires it, such as the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown. You can change your choice later.
• You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your device settings under Google > Ads.
• You can manage personalised advertising from Google at adssettings.google.com.

Sharing and sending files

When you use "Share" or "Save a copy", the file is passed to the app or folder that you choose. What happens to it afterwards is governed by that app or service. If you tap "Send feedback", your own email app opens, and we receive only what you decide to send.

Permissions

DocuMela uses internet access, which is needed to load ads and to open links such as this policy. It does not request camera, microphone, contacts, location or broad storage permissions.

Children

DocuMela is a general productivity app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us.

Data retention and deletion

Because we do not hold your data on any server, there is nothing for us to delete on our side. All app data is on your device and is removed when you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app. For data held by Google in connection with advertising, please use the Google controls linked above.

Security

Your documents stay in the app's private storage on your device, which other apps cannot read. Keeping your device locked and up to date helps to protect them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app changes. The new version will be published on this page with a new effective date.
